Biography

Dr. Gregory M. Martin is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in personalized hip and knee replacement surgery. His practice focuses on helping patients with hip and knee arthritis relieve pain, restore function, and return to an active lifestyle through individualized treatment and advanced surgical techniques.

A central focus of Dr. Martin’s practice is personalized joint replacement. He has one of the world’s largest clinical experiences with personalized hip and knee implants and has spent much of his career researching, publishing, and teaching techniques in individualized joint reconstruction. He performed the world’s first customized 3D hip replacement and the first customized knee replacement in the southeastern United States.

Dr. Martin believes joint replacement should be tailored to the individual patient rather than relying solely on standardized implant sizes and surgical techniques. Advances in 3D imaging, implant design, and surgical planning allow appropriately selected patients to receive implants designed around their individual anatomy. His approach combines patient-specific planning with advanced surgical techniques to support precise joint reconstruction.

He is also the developer of FASTREC, a comprehensive approach to hip and knee replacement focused on accelerated recovery. FASTREC incorporates advanced pain-management strategies, muscle-sparing surgical techniques, and 3D-customized implant technology to support early mobility and recovery following joint replacement.

Dr. Martin's philosophy is simple: treat every patient like family. He takes a personalized approach to care and works closely with patients to understand their symptoms, lifestyle, goals, and expectations. For him, successful joint replacement is measured not only by the technical result of surgery, but also by the patient's ability to return to the activities that are important to them.

Dr. Martin has a longstanding interest in advancing the techniques and technology used in hip and knee replacement. His work includes research, publication, and education in personalized implants, 3D surgical planning, and modern approaches to joint reconstruction. His areas of expertise include hip arthritis and hip replacement, knee arthritis and knee replacement, personalized joint replacement, 3D-customized implants, and advanced surgical techniques and technology.
