Biography

Dr. Jesse J. Caballero is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon dedicated to helping patients overcome disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine through thoughtful, individualized care. His approach combines evidence-based medicine with modern surgical techniques to relieve pain, restore function, and help patients return to the activities and lives they enjoy.

Dr. Caballero believes there is no single “best” spine operation. Instead, the best treatment is the one that is right for the individual patient. Every patient has a unique history, lifestyle, and set of goals, and he takes the time to understand those factors before developing a personalized treatment plan. He believes surgery should be recommended only when it offers a meaningful opportunity to relieve pain, restore function, and improve quality of life.

When surgery is appropriate, Dr. Caballero strives to perform the least invasive procedure capable of achieving a safe, durable, and lasting result. His surgical expertise includes motion-preserving spine surgery, cervical disc replacement, minimally invasive spine surgery, cervical and lumbar decompression and fusion, thoracic and lumbar spine surgery, and complex revision spine surgery. He also utilizes advanced technologies, including computer-assisted navigation and intraoperative imaging, when they can meaningfully enhance surgical precision and patient care.

Dr. Caballero treats a broad range of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar conditions, including cervical and lumbar radiculopathy, cervical myelopathy, cervical and lumbar disc herniations, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, adult degenerative spine disease, adult spinal deformity, neck pain, and low back pain.

Dr. Caballero earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics from the University of Arizona before receiving his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine. He subsequently completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Indiana University School of Medicine, followed by fellowship training in Adult & Complex Spine Surgery at Hoag Orthopaedic Institute. His fellowship training provided advanced expertise in the surgical management of complex spinal conditions and modern motion-preserving and minimally invasive techniques.

Dr. Caballero practices as an Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon with Memorial Orthopaedic Surgical Group in Long Beach, California. His practice is centered on individualized treatment plans, motion preservation when appropriate, and helping patients regain function, mobility, and quality of life.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Caballero is committed to advancing spine care through research and education. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters in spine surgery and orthopaedic trauma. He remains dedicated to lifelong learning and translating the latest scientific evidence into thoughtful, effective patient care.

Above all, Dr. Caballero believes patients should feel heard, respected, and cared for as individuals. He strives to ensure that every patient leaves with a clear understanding of their condition, treatment options, and the path forward.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Caballero enjoys strength training, music, hiking, exploring nature, and spending time with family and friends. His appreciation for movement and the outdoors reflects the same philosophy he brings to patient care: helping people move better and return to the lives they enjoy.
